Nigeria have for sometime now been ranked among the world's poorest countries owing to the high population of persons who barely have one square meal or people living below 1 dollar. In recent times the country found itself in economic doom resulting from varied of factors including the Covid-19.

A Non-Governmental Organization Nextier, has predicted that if business continues as usual, Nigeria will fail to achieve its development goals and the nation's socio-economic conditions could further degenerate...Nigeria may remain as the world's poverty capital till 2050.

CBN to redesign bank notes

CBN to change bank notes Shared by Marcelinus Golu Isaiah Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Wednesday said it will redesign the N200, N500, and N1,000 notes.  CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, disclosed this during a special press briefing in Abuja. He said the bank had obtained approval from President Mohammadu Buhari to redesign N200, N500, N1000 notes, adding that the new notes will come into effect by December 15. Emefiele said: “Bank charges for cash deposit are suspended with immediate effect.” He further disclosed that over 80 per cent of the total cash in circulation was outside the banking system. “N2.73 trillion out of N3.23 trn exists outside the commercial bank,” he added. He said the decision would impact the value of the naira.
